My MUST SEE Holiday Movie Watch List Part 1

Hello lovelies,

I’m here with another amaaaaaaaaaaaazing blogmas post to get you into the holiday mood.

So I have a confession to make…. I am….. I ummm…. I uhhh…… I ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY UNDENIABLY LOVE CHRISTMAS!!!! I love the spirit of kindness, family, friendship and togetherness that the Christmas season brings. I love being cheerful and giving presents as a sign of love to my beloveds. I love remembering Jesus and how his birth and life has transformed so many lives. And I really love to watch Christmas movies.

I loooooooooooove a good Christmas movie. To be honest, I actually watch Christmas movies year-round but during the holiday season, when the Christmas movies are on repeat……..woo man… I am grooving! I am in Christmas movie heaven!!!!

(PAUSE: I would like to pause this post to shout out the Hallmark Channel. Thank you Hallmark for feeding my Christmas movie addiction. Can anyone say Christmas in July? Woot! Woot!)

(Back on track:)  These movies constantly have me glued to the screen and cozy up in pure merriment. These are the movies that I scour the TV guide looking for. The movies I schedule in my day. The movies that I literally watch EVERY SINGLE CHRISTMAS!!! I’m getting a little excited just writing this post! Some of these you may know and some may be hidden gems that world needs to get up on. Some are mega block busters and others are made for TV hits. But ALL of these are amazing movies that provide a little piece of Christmas magic. So without further ado….. Here are my MUST WATCH CHRISTMAS MOVIES:

  1. Elf

Summary: After inadvertently wreaking havoc on the elf community due to his ungainly size, a man raised as an elf at the North Pole is sent to the U.S. in search of his true identity.

If someone had told me that Will Ferrell would win the world over with the movie Elf I would tell them……Well duh! It’s fricking Will Ferrell. The man is comedic gold. But this does not make this movie any less hilarious, heartwarming or amazing. I absolutely love the premise of elf. It’s like instead being raised by animals like Mowgli or Apes like Tarzan, Buddy is raised by Elves until he has to find his own way. Love it!

  1. Christmas with the Kranks

Summary: Finally alone for the holidays, Luther (Tim Allen) and Nora Krank (Jamie Lee Curtis) plan to eschew the Christmas traditions and take a cruise in the Caribbean instead. This doesn’t sit well with their Christmas-obsessed neighbors Vic Frohmeyer (Dan Aykroyd) and Walt Scheel (M. Emmet Walsh), who are determined to win the annual “best decorated street” competition, and the Kranks soon find themselves social outcasts because of their lack of Christmas spirit.

Tim Allen is no stranger to Christmas movies. He is the Santa Claus after all. But when he teams up with Jamie Lee Curtis in this Christmas hilarious rendition, I just couldn’t stop laughing. That botox scene still gets me every single time. The best thing about this movie is the sense of community even when you’ve been a jackass. Love and friendship wins always!

  1. A Diva’s Christmas Carol

Summary: When an ego-driven superstar (Vanessa L. Williams) loses her holiday spirit, the ghosts of Christmas past (Kathy Griffin), present and future visit her.

Vanessa Williams is fierce, fabulous and in a world of trouble. She stars as the nasty and ego-driven pop singer, Ebony Scrooge, who has a cold-heart, nasty attitude and lacks a great deal of holiday cheer. After ditching her family’s Christmas dinner invitation and forcing her staff to work on Christmas day, Ebony gets a reality check by three Christmas spirits who big personalities.

This modern-day adaptation of the classic Charles Dickens’ book, ‘A Christmas Carol’ is absolutely fabulous and entertaining gem. Think what would happen if Beyonce was a total prima donna and diva rather than the awesome person she is?

  1. The Santa Clause

Summary: Divorced dad Scott (Tim Allen) has custody of his son on Christmas Eve. After he accidentally kills a man in a Santa suit, they are magically transported to the North Pole, where an elf explains that Scott must take Santa’s place before the next Christmas arrives. Scott thinks he’s dreaming, but over the next several months he gains weight and grows an inexplicably white beard. Maybe that night at the North Pole wasn’t a dream after all — and maybe Scott has a lot of work to do.

What happens when you accidentally kill Santa Claus and jack his suit? Well you become the new Santa …….. obviously! I don’t know about anyone else but this to me is a Christmas Classic. I mean who doesn’t love this movie? An original Christmas movie idea that was perfectly executed. It’s completely fabulous!!!

  1. Last Holiday

Summary: The discovery that she has a terminal illness prompts introverted saleswoman Georgia Byrd (Queen Latifah) to reflect on what she realizes has been an overly cautious life. So Georgia withdraws her life savings and jets off to Europe where she lives like a millionaire. Upbeat and passionate, Georgia charms everybody she meets, including renowned Chef Didier. The only one missing from her new life is her longtime crush Sean Matthews.

I Love This Movie! This movie is an absolute favourite of mine. I loved how Georgia took her bad news and began living the life she truly loved and always wanted to live. Vibrant and full of life, she makes an impact on everyone she comes into contact with. It may have taken a bump on the head and a medical prognosis of three weeks to live to coax Queen Latifah out of her shell. This movie is  funny and charming and just a plain lovable feel good romantic comedy that is truly a Holiday MUST!!! You won’t regret it!

  1. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas

Summary: In this live-action adaptation of the beloved children’s tale by Dr. Seuss, the reclusive green Grinch (Jim Carrey) decides to ruin Christmas for the cheery citizens of Whoville. Reluctantly joined by his hapless dog, Max, the Grinch comes down from his mountaintop home and sneaks into town to swipe everything holiday-related from the Whos. However, the bitter grump finds a hitch in his plans when he encounters the endearing Cindy Lou Who (Taylor Momsen).

I think this movie MUST be on everyone’s MUST WATCH LIST because it’s so amazing. Jim Carrey gives an amazing performance as the Grinch. This movie just always gives me the feels and is the perfect Christmas movie to add to every movie watch list. What more can I say other than GO WATCH IT!
