My Holiday Book Wish List

Hello lovelies,

As of today there are only 9 more days until Christmas. Yaaay! I must admit it has been a rough few days for me. I’ve had a significant life event lately and as I try to process the changes, I’m trying to keep in good spirits.

That being said, I’m still looking forward to the Christmas holiday. For me right now it’s a sign of positivity, love and hope that I truly need at the moment. It’s the time of year where my bright eyes look longingly at my growing list of desired books and pick a few that my mind would love to be enriched by.

A good book to cozy up to and travel through is a perfect remedy for escape at anytime. So as I peruse the internet, as well as based on the top goodreads recommendations, I’ve found a few books that would help to make my little heart pitter patter to a happy tune once again. So what am I hoping Santa will leave under my tree this Christmas?

1. The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas

If you’ve already seen MY 2017 HOLIDAY WISH LIST ,then this first book on my list is definitely not a surprise. I’ve already raved about this book and all the acclaim it has received so I will spare you further gushing and just say that this is on my must read book list.

2. The Last Black Unicorn by Tiffany Haddish

Tiffany Haddish has taken 2017 by storm after co-starring in the summer blockbuster hit, Girls Trip. She later solidified her winning-ness by being the first black female comedian to host Saturday Night Live (SNL). Now, she’s back with her autobiography that has been receiving acclaim and praise. I’m now uber excited to read more about her story.

3. Rich People Problems by Kevin Kwan

For 2018, my goal is to expand my reading range and start to read books from other cultures and stories that I wouldn’t normally read. This book seems like it would be really funny while being informative about another culture.

4. One Of Us Is Lying by Karen M McManus

Described as the movie classic ‘The Breakfast Club’ meeting the cult favourite ‘Pretty Little Liars’, One of Us Is Lying is the story of what happens when five strangers walk into detention and only four walk out alive. The premise of this book seems really interesting. I hope it’s full of plot twists and a great mystery. I’m really looking forward to read it.

5. Turtles All the Way Down by John Green

Famed author and brilliant storyteller, John Green returns with another book that I hope will captivate me and engulf me into his world as I read the tale. This book I’m sure will have some strong themes and ideas and I’m hoping it helps me to not only think but also reflect as I peruse the pages.

6. My Not So Perfect Life by Sophie Kinsella

I don’t think I’ll ever have any book wish list that doesn’t include a book from the contemporary romance genre. So when I read the summary from this Sophie Kinsella book I’m like…… well alright then, I’m definitely going to read it.

7. Caraval by Stephanie Garber

A story about sisterhood, love and adventure set on the background of a fantasy world and a race against time. Sign me up please. Caraval appears to be one that will stretch the imagination while still being entertaining.

8. When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon

This is another book that I thought would be great to expand my cultural knowledge a little more. A book about a modern Indian couple who already have an arranged marriage but the parents thought it best for them to actually fall in love on their own accord and not force the marriage on them is a pretty interesting one. I already downloaded it so I can wait to start on a brand new journey.

9. Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng

This is another book that I think would be different for my general reading aesthetics. The winner of the Goodreads Best Fiction book of 2017, this book promises to be a page turner and I eagerly anticipate reading this book.

There you have it loves. These are the few books that I hope that my kindle and book shelf will be filled with this Christmas. How about you loves? What are some of the books you hope to get for Christmas? Tell me in the comments below or on twitter @astoldbynella
