The Ultimate 2018 Spring Reading List
Ah Spring is in the air! The flowers are blooming. Birds are chirping. Better yet, the snow is finally melting (I know I have no snow in sunny Jamaica but…. I feel it for my international loves). As the temperatures begin to warm up, there’s nothing more invigorating than a spring read. Shouldn’t you read a great new book this spring? Why, of course you should. It’s time to dust off the old TBR list and make room on your nightstand for some stimulating new books this spring. Wake up your brain from the winter nap with this Spring Reading list.
What makes a good springtime read?
Truth be told, there is no exact genre of book that is a ‘springtime book’. A good springtime read rather stimulates the mind. It satisfies a taste and thirst for knowledge. It ignites a spark in your imagination and allows your fantasies to roam free. A springtime read takes you on a journey made to bridge a path into the author’s mind.
So what’s on the list?
Being a world-renowned bibliophile, I thought I’d share my 2018 spring reading list with you all today. I love to read, and posting these reading lists helps me keep track of what I want to read. I did something similar last fall (see that list here), and it was really fun to share a few things I was reading and wanting to read, and then hear some of your comments about the books too. The feedback on my fall post was absolutely delightful and I hope to inspire more of you to cozy up and grab a book this spring.
I didn’t quite get to all of the books on my fall and winter reading list. So I’ve still got a couple of titles from my Fall/Winter Reading List that I’m hoping to squeeze in before moving on entirely to the next season of books, but there is so much that I’m excited to read this spring.
So without further ado. Here is my 2018 Spring Reading List:
1. Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty
Thank God for twitter friends because without one I never would have found out about this book. A little birdie by the name of Marie from Backstory Beauty introduced me to this book after a call for new tv series recommendations was answered. I was so captivated by the tv series that I had to go get the original story from the author’s mouth.
2. Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi
If you read my post earlier this year on Books I’m Looking Forward to in 2018 then this book will be very familiar to you. And btw the cover still gives me chills! After finally landing my copy from Amazon, I’m ready to cosy up and explore the world and mind of Tomi Adeyemi.
These next 2 books may be familiar to you if you read my post on Books That Have Been On My TBR the Longest. These books have been sitting pretty and patiently on my bookshelf since their release last year. And they are finally ready to make their reading debut.
3. The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas
This book centers heavily around the theme of racism and the black experience in USA. This book was one of the most buzzed about books of 2017 and it definitely caught my attention. I admit that I haven’t read many books of this genre before but I’m uber excited to share this experience. Honestly, I can’t wait to read it.
4. Caraval by Stephanie Garber
If you know me well, then you know that I looooove a good fantasy novel. I love a story of exploration and thrilling experiences. I love getting most in a world that only the imagination can create and the mind can traverse. This books seems like the perfect refresher to quench my thirst for adventure.
So, there you have it my lovelies, these are the books on my TBR list for the Springtime. The list seems a little scanty, I know. But the new year brought some new responsibilities in my day job, so time is not as freeing as it was before. Plus, because I know I’m also an impulsive bibliophile, I left a little leeway for myself. Giving myself a little freedom to explore a new book that may grab my attention.
What are you reading this spring? What are you most excited about to read? Let me know in the comments if you have any must-reads for me.
